Saudi Aramco was established 1933 when Saudi Arabia signed a concession agreement with Standard Oil of California to explore for oil in the country. The maximum storage capacity is 200 million barrels of refrigerated liquefied petroleum gas (RLPG) and natural gas compensate per year. Domestic refining capacity in solely-owned refineries is 993,000 bpd and 1.105 million bpd in domestic joint ventures. Internationally, the refining capacity lies at 2.060 million bpd which results in a total of 4.158 million bpd for Saudi Aramco. Normal customer demand is being supplied, while maintaining 1.5 to 2 million bpd of valuable spare capacity to meet unexpected international demands. The table below shows the output of refined products for each of the large refineries for 2009.
